Muumi (Comic Book) is a Finnish comic book that has been published since 1991, with 12 issues released per year. Initially, it was published by Kustannus Oy Semic, which is now part of Egmont Kustannus Oy Ab. The Comic Book is simultaneously published in Finland, Sweden, and Norway.
At first, the stories were based on Tove Jansson’s original tales, but over time, the Comic Book has aligned more with the Moominvalley animated series.
Muumi (Comic Book) is aimed at preschool-aged children, and the target audience is carefully considered in the comic stories. The production and illustration of new stories have primarily been a Nordic effort. In the early years, Lars Jansson reviewed the scripts and artwork of the comics.

Lasten sarjakuvalehti Muumi täyttää 10 vuotta. Egmont-kustannus aloitti Muumi-lehden julkaisun vuonna 1991.
Tove Janssonin kehittämiä Muumi-hahmoja nähtiin aiempina vuosina sarjakuvissa Toven veljen Lars Janssonin piirtäminä. Vuonna 1947 piirtämisen alkanut Lars lopetti 1974, minkä jälkeen Muumit saivat odottaa paluutaan sarjakuvakentälle 90-luvun alkuun asti. Egmont on synnyttänyt Janssonien valvonnassa uusia Muumien seikkailuja.
“Alkuvuosina jokainen sarjakuva vietiin Lars Janssonin tarkastettavaksi”, kertovat sarjan nykykuvittajat Ilkka Ruokola ja Jari Rasi . Tällä erää Muumi-lehden kuvituksia ja käsikirjoituksia valvoo Lars Janssonin tytär Sophia Jansson . Tampereella tehtävä lehti leviää Suomen lisäksi Ruotsiin, Norjaan, Viroon ja Hollantiin.

Muumi [FIN] Turns 10 Years Old

The children’s comic magazine Moomin turns 10 years old. Egmont Publishing started publishing the Moomin magazine in 1991.
The Moomin characters, created by Tove Jansson, had appeared in earlier years in comics drawn by Tove’s brother, Lars Jansson. Lars, who began drawing in 1947, retired in 1974, leaving the Moomins to wait for their return to the comic scene until the early 1990s. Egmont, under the supervision of the Jansson family, has since brought new Moomin adventures to life.
“In the early years, every comic strip was reviewed by Lars Jansson,” say the current illustrators of the series, Ilkka Ruokola and Jari Rasi. Currently, the illustrations and scripts for the Moomin magazine are overseen by Lars Jansson’s daughter, Sophia Jansson. The magazine, produced in Tampere, is distributed not only in Finland but also in Sweden, Norway, Estonia, and the Netherlands.
